FIRM NEWS

Value Pricing. Over three and half years ago, we recognized that hourly billing was not a customer friendly way of charging. We felt that bills sent out on that method were nothing but surprises, if not shockers to our clients. We also felt some clients might view the method as providing incentive for delay and inefficiency. Finally, we felt that the basis for the bill, i.e., time, was not related at all to the value of our service to our customers. We switched to value pricing. This allows us to customize a price for our services which is fixed and has a cap on it. This means that our clients know before the representation even starts what the ultimate price of their project will be. It also places the burden for efficient and timely resolution squarely on our shoulders—where it should be—instead of on our clients. Finally, it provides incentive for us to be “mission driven” and efficient, which we are. Our change to this method was fortuitous in these tough economic times. We believe it positions us, uniquely, to respond to the needs of our customers and to cusomize prices which they can afford and which will also get the job done. There is a growing wave of sentiment in the legal industry that this method of pricing is superior to the hourly billing method and this has been recognized repeatedly in American Bar Association publications and in a recent New York Times article. If you want to know more about this unique method of pricing, see our web site or give us a call.

March will be a busy month for our firm. Mark will be travelling to Chicago March 5 to 8 for a meeting with the American Bar Association. At the end of March we will be in trial for three days in Columbus.
